8th February 2004 - Message from Darren
This is just a quick note to let you all know how much I love and appreciate your support and most recently your enthusiasm about my new music. Believe me, I wish I could just put the album out right now and get out on the road and sing it all for you.. but there are so many other things to set in place before this baby is ready. Now that the album is done, the behind the scenes team are busy putting together the plan of exactly how we're going to go about presenting it to you. Just trust me that I'm so very proud of this record and that your love and support means the world to me. I know eventually this wait will all be worth it. So see you soon(ish!)
Big hugs and love always your biggest fan Darren Stanley Hayes

21st December 2003 - Holiday Message
I've had the most perfect day. I'm home in Australia with my family all around me. I spent the day with my niece and nephew seeing 'Peter Pan' at the movies, hangin' out at the mall, shopping for Christmas and just being a regular normal brother/uncle/son. It's so weird to be happy. It's been so long since I've felt this way. Let me back track. I sat in the car with my mother yesterday, driving out to visit my brother and listening to my new record. As we made the hour long drive out there we had sat through the entire record and I realized how hard it must be for a mother to hear her son cry musically.. to ache or to yearn as some of the songs on this new record do. And she cried a little and I realized that I really do use my music as a way to communicate to everyone. And even though a lot of the songs on the record describe a journey in and out of darkness I am ultimately a very happy and grateful soul. I found myself reassuring my mother that I was o.k and telling her that in some ways I get it all out with the music and then I move forward. And then there I was watching 'peter pan' about the boy who never wanted to grow up. And I'm aware of the cliché's surrounding such a complex.. and yet it moved me on so many levels because that theme is very central to me. I always thought that growing up meant losing some of your innocence. Yet here I am 31 years of age and I am an adult. I'm somewhat cynical. I'm wiser. But I haven't lost my innocence. I'm finally taking stock of the last few years that almost killed me and yet provided such an beautiful catalyst for this new album, and more importantly.. this incredible perspective I have on my life and what really matters. And that's where I am today. I just feel at peace. I'm accepting that happiness is not mindless joy. It is not some elusive nirvana of perfection and romantic sunsets. It is flawed. Beautifully. It is bitter and sweet. And it's such a great time to express that... here in this holiday season where (regardless of religion) we find ourselves reconnecting and gathering in this ritual. For me, it's about returning 'home' and taking time to appreciate my life and my blessings. Here are some of them just this week. Doing yoga with my sister and her children and watching her 6 year old son meditate with his hands in prayer position. Reading him 'how the grinch stole Christmas' tonight and having him tell me why presents weren't important but family was. Reading through all my fan mail, running into strangers in the street who still know my name... and just feeling the most incredible gratitude for your unconditional love. Watching old Savage Garden footage with the children and thanking God I had no idea how huge we were when we were on top of the world.. still in awe of everything that ever happened.
So that's where my head is at. Happy. That the glass is half full. And yet half empty. Finally at peace with that.
I wish you all the love in the world. Peace on Earth!
xxalways Darren |

29th July 2003 - Site Upgrade!
Dear All,
It's been over a year since we first opened our "on-line" doors, and we have been developing and enhancing our site since those early days. Recently it has become clear that we needed to expand the operation to cope with increasing membership numbers and to respond to some of the suggestions and feed-back we have received.
We've split this action up into three phases. Phase 1 was the introduction of a new more powerful server, which has been running for a couple of weeks now. That comes to an end today with the final piece of equipment being upgraded later today to cope with your download-demands!
Phase 2 will follow as soon as that is done, and will be far more noticeable to you all. The entire "back-end" database is being upgraded. The database runs our site, and by replacing the old system with a new one, we will be able to offer more features on-line to you all. And the all is important. One of the big changes you will notice is that the "merchandise" system has changed. You now have a more typical basket that you can fill with all your Darren goodies. You now also have complete on-line control of your subscription information. Finally, We are going to introduce an online Registration for Non Members which will allow them to order Merchandise we have for sale on the site and also receive our mail shots called d-News. We'll be introducing other extras as time goes on. One final note is that as a reward to our dedicated members we will also be offering discounts to full members on merchandise, typically 25%.
Phase 3? Now that would be telling... |
|
16th July 2003 - Moving To New Server
In the next 24 hours we will be moving home to a much larger and better server. We are doing this so we can continue to provide a quality site as we have outgrown our old one. Unfortunately this may cause some inconvenience to you. We are going to have to turn off ordering facilities for both Memberships and Merchandise, the Members Forum,Membership Details Update, and also the d-Pals program. We are doing this to ensure no information is lost in the change over process. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Regards Darren Hayes Music Fan Club |

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has gone out of their way to be so kind to me and say hello to me during my stay in London. It really has been quite overwhelming to see so many happy smiling faces at the various events I'm attending. I am very lucky to have such a loyal and loving group of people cheering me on and I want you to know that I'm very grateful for the love I feel from all of you. My only way to repay you for your incredible support and loyalty is by trying to make the best record I know how to make. The recording has been going incredibly well. I'm so pleased with the music that is being created and I can't wait to share it with you. Until then, just know that you make me feel like the luckiest guy on earth.

5th June 2003 - Sony Site News
We've had a lot of questions about the sony site. There are plans to redesign the site to update it for the release of Darren's new music sometime at the end of the year. The chat room has been temporarily taken down for that purpose. There aren't updates on the news section as he's out of the public eye and not actively promoting anything. His low profile at the moment is intentional.. so don't worry! He's enjoying this quiet period while he takes time to work on new music and get ready to come back with surprises. We can assure you that you can expect updates from the studio and info to be on the sony site as soon as he is ready to let the world in. In the meantime, all confirmed news and info from Darren that we receive here at the fanclub is being made available on the public news section so that all fans can access it.

17th May 2003 - Birthday Thanks from Darren
I wanted to say thank you to everyone for making my birthday 'in hiding' a fantastic one. I was overwhelmed by the emails, letters and gifts. You shouldn't have is what I'm supposed to say. But in reality, it made me feel very special. Sorry I've forgotten most of your birthdays! Could you imagine if you expected me to remember? Could you imagine if I did remember. How incredible would I be? I can imagine my VH1 before they were stars interview with a voice over saying 'all this.. and on top of it all...the MOST thoughtful entertainer because he personally sings happy birthday to his fans in a g-string'. Actually I made up the part about the g-string. And the VH1 thing. And I hate g-strings. My point is I wish I could return the favour. So I'll have to just make sure this is THE MOST INCREDIBLE ALBUM EVER. Yes I'm working on one. Ooops am I supposed to say that? Oh well....just did. Love you.. xD

4th March 2003 - d-Pals have arrived!!
We are so proud to introduce a new program the the D-zine for both Members and the Public. It is called d-Pals.
Darren has fans all over the world, and many of them visit this as well as many other web-sites that are about him. We thought it would be good to let all of these fans get in touch with each other.
d-Pals is an advanced web-based pen-pal system dedicated to and designed for Darren's fans. Even if you are a long standing member of Darren's on-line fan community, d-Pals will put you in touch with people you otherwise may never have met.
When you join up you will be asked to answer a variety of questions that build up a fan-profile of you (the information recorded will not be passed to any third-party). These questions change all the time, making sure that your profile reflects what's currently going on in Darren's career and life in general!
By matching similiar (or even different) profiles, d-Pals will allow you to start corresponding with other fans all over the world!
To use the d-Pals network you need to sign-up or log in.
As a member as long as you are logged into the site, you won't have to log into d-Pals as well. However, you do need to pick a d-Pals user-name. Allowing you to have a different user name means that you can remain anonymous if you wish. However, we have retrieved your normal forum user-name if you have signed up to it and entered this into the user-name box. If you would like to chose a differnt name then please delete your forum name from the box below and enter you desired d-Pals user-name.
Hope you have fun!!! |

26th February 2003 - A Statement From Darren Hayes Management
A Statement From Darren Hayes Management
Contrary to recent posts on the internet, the proposed 'Savage Garden Greatest Hits' that had a tentative release of March 25 has been put on hold at the artists request. Although Columbia records has the right to release such a compilation without artist input or consent, they have agreed to hold off the release in order to let their artists have input into a revised track listing and package that will be more unique than the current proposal. We are very grateful to Columbia for making this decision. It is our firm belief that Savage Garden's loyal fans deserve a very special and well thought out retrospective collection. We will endeavor to do this for you when the time is right.

24th January 2003 - Latest Darren News
Latest Darren News! There have been a lot of questions lately regarding Darren's plans after Spin and in particular for 2003. As Crush is the last single to be released from Spin in the world outside of America, Darren plans to take some down time in the first half of the year with very tentative plans to go into the studio around July. In his time off Darren plans to take some classes at University (for fun), work on his guitar, write some songs and most importantly raise his new puppy (photos to come!). Obviously after 2 years of making and promoting Spin he is going to enjoy the next 6 months 'off' while preparing for the next chapter in his career. One thing we can tell you for sure is that he will be editing and piecing together the DVD of the Too Close For Comfort tour with Director Grant Marshall, with hopes for a release later in the year. Although he'll be keeping a low profile, we'll obviously be keeping fanclub members up to date on the details of his down time. Oh and that puppy.

10th December 2002 - Darren Has to Cancel Graham Norton Show
Unfortunately I'm not going to be performing on Graham Norton. I have, very annoyingly, come down again with a viral laryngitis which will prevent me from singing for at least a week. I have been fighting off a flu but was able to sing fine for the first few days of promo. After the Capital Christmas live performance I felt the symptoms were moving towards my throat and when I woke up on Saturday I could barely speak. I've seen two doctors and it's official. I am not allowed to sing. I'm fine, just frustated. It's one of those situations that if I sing I could probably sound o.k but risk damaging my voice permanently. My performance is going to go ahead on the GMTV as this can be fully mimed (something I hate doing) but Graham's show is something, like Letterman in the u.s, that is all about being fully live. Because I'm not physically able to do that, we are going to have to appear on the show some other time. I'm dissapointed but just wanted to apologize to anyone who was looking forward to seeing the show. On a brighter note, I really did have such a great time at Top Of The Pops AND Capital. My spirit was in it, even if my body at times wasn't. Thanks for all your support, love and best wishes and just know that I love you all. xxxDarren |

29th November 2002 - Hidden Tracks
The official word on the connected technology:
The connected portion of Spin was intended to provide 3 Stream Only tracks to fans who bought the album. These songs were rare, unreleased and intended to be a way of thanking those who bought the album. They were to be available to stream for the duration of the album promotion only. One song Lift Me Up was unlocked when the album was released, with the intention of unlocking the subsequent songs each time a single was released worldwide.
However, since the unofficial MP3 versions of some of those songs are being circulated on the Internet, we have chosen to make different material available to fans. A new song, Where You Want To Be, will be available in streaming audio when Strange Relationship gets its worldwide commercial release later this year. We plan to make another track available when a third single is released worldwide from Hayes Spin album.

28th November 2002 - Message from Darren
Message From Darren
I just wanted to say a huge thankyou for all of your good wishes and support during the past week. Of course I was completely devestated to have to cancel some shows on this tour. I never thought my name and that word would be in the same sentence! But hey, thank God , Dr Chung and all my friends and family for being so supportive and encouraging. I am feeling fantastic.. my voice is back and I can't wait to rock in Brisbane on Saturday night.
If it makes you feel any better, I had three days of silence that were the most frustrating 3 days of my life!! Imagine me getting annoyed and not being able to yell! I had to write everything down. I filled up pages and pages of scribbled thoughts. It made me very grateful for my health and the voice that I have enjoyed every day up to this point in my life.
Changing the schedule and the way I handle some of my media at the moment is a way of making sure that I keep my voice for as long as I want to sing. For me, that would be the rest of my life.
Thanks again for your understanding and support. My sincere apologies to those who were holding tickets for shows that had to be cancelled. I love you!
